"Me Before You" is another copy of love story, which wins tons of readers tears, warms millions of hearts who are looking for Mr Right. Overall, it's kind of Cinderella meeting a Prince and then changing her own miserable life. But there is something special about it.
The "Prince" Will Traynor himself is quadriplegic. He has tried for a year hoping to better, but then as all efforts are in vain, he has decided to commit suicide in Switzerland. He promised his parents months to go. You may think he is weak in mind, but he is not. Just like his name, Will, Will used to be a very successful top manager. Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he was also born handsome, charming and smart. He likes crushing people on deals, likes challenging himself in exciting games such as skiing, climbing high mountains, and having sex with long-leg blondes. However, as a man glamarous as he is, he was hit by a motorcycle by accident in a heavy rain, thus leaving himself in bed day after day.
The Cinderella Louisa Clark is from a very poor family, troubled by not only finance, but also a sick stroke-stricken grandpa and a child born by Louisa's unmarried sister. What's worse, her boyfriend has dated with her for 7 years, and their passion is fading off. Now in her 26, she has lost her job which she had done for 6 years. Poor, uncared and unskilled, Louisa took the job as Will's caregiver. Then the two met each other.
The story is more like how Will change Louisa. Slowly by slowly, Louisa was charmed by Will. I think her affection is out of worship and sympathy. It is her frist time that she has know being a family with such glamorous house and a man with such great charm. First by the music concert, then by the wedding of Alicia. She met some successful people, witnesses another kind of life. Will, of course has his own charm, like being humorous. His encouragement, especially his compliment slowly uncovers a new Louisa.
Because of Will, she is no longer the girl who always put her sister's need before hers, or lingering around a boyfriend who almost never considers her feelings but his athletic training. She learns to say no, saying out her true feelings. She no longer feels ashamed of being chatty or looking strange in colorful clothes.
Because of the music concert, Will told her, "If you're going to wear a dress you need to wear it with confidence. You need to fill it out mentally as well as physically." Also, at Alicia's wedding, Will's former colleague, who used to be in another higher social circle, also made her feel herself a beauty, which I believe strengthens her confidence in her figure which used to be common or even wired to her family and boyfriend.
As for her career, Will also slowly leads her to find it. At first, she doesn't know what she should do in the rest of her life. Then, Will told her, "You're going to feel uncomfortable in your new world for a bit. It always does feel strange to be knocked out of your comfort zone." Becuase of Will, Louisa no longer a girl who is afraid of losing her boyfriend, confined by her finance problem or her limited knowledge of going to a training course. She began to read a lot. She becomes bigger inside, bravely leaving her boyfriend at 27. She even applies a designing course in college.
By the end of the story, Louisa has got a admission letter in college, found her way of expressing her beauty and become a girl with strong will. Of course, she has also got a not-so-big but not small either forture from Will.
Will, is determined to leave the world. His destiny is not changed, but his left 6 months is quite different because of Louisa. He said, "All I say is that you make me ...You make me into someone I couldn't imagine, you make me happy." "You are pretty much the only thing I wanna get up in the morning." He is happier, he wins another sweet relationship and he leaves the world in peace. I think in the short 6 months, a great thing done by him is chaning a girl's life for the better, which shows his charm and power in a way. Although Will is not with her, but the experience with him will stay with Louisa forever, directing her to live well. One saying came to my mind, "有时候，你想证明给一万个人看。 到后来，你发现只得到了一个明白的人，那就够了。《后会无期》." Will is just the one who understands her, cherishes her. That's enough for a whole life.
In this story, many people may find themselves in the same shoes as Louisa. For example, dating with a boyfriend or living with a husaband for years, now feeling nothing with each other but being afraid to let go. Or being troubled by finance or family problem, so that we dare not to go for our dreams. From Will and Louisa, many people may feel the long lost love in life. When they close the book, they may be lost in tears, in pity, but also cover by strong love, and in great hope, "When and where is my Will saving my life?"
