Today I went to a english training agency with friends, I figure that I dislike it.i have been learning english for more than 20years,and i am still learning enlish now. for the first 10 years, i studied at school,and stop learning for several years ,now i started learning on my own, through online resources i guess.so I think why not talking about the best way to learn a language ?
So whether it is better to go to class or study by yourself? i think it is better to study by my own,there are few reasons:

Well,the first point is you have to be productive to teach yourself.It is true that there is no teacher or experts to give you material you need to communicate with other people ,but you can find it yourself.

the second point is motivation.you have to be self-disciplined as self-learner.but i think it is something you can cultivate.because you really want to learn the language, you want to communication with that language. If you achieve your set goals, It makes you want keep-going.I find the learning experience is terrible at class.It is true that teachers can told you a lot of grammars ,words ,pronounciations, but they seldom focus on your motivation.Besides, at class,you got grades and you want to pass exams, sometimes you are not learning ,you just try to got high grades and try to pass exams.you care so much about grades,not improving your language skills.As a self-learner,you don't need teacher to gurantee the results, you can get right answers from the internet.

the good benifits about self-learning is you don't have to pay money about it.you don't have the pressure that i paid the money ,so i have to go to class, whether i sick or not.

the last point is time.as self-learner ,you can take you time if you need more time to understand a vedio or a grammar.but if you are in class,maybe it is goint too fast ,you can't catch up which will make a really bad time.
well ,the best way to study second language is,of course ,study at the native-speaking country.I have pleasure to do that in Australia for a week, i have to talk to people with english,everyone i met spoke english, i can't speak my mother tongue.thouth i used hands and movements, whatever,it is really a good opportunity for me because that's where i got the self-confidence of speaking.before i came to Australia,I thought i don't need to speak english,i don't think i couldn't speak english.however , i found people don't understand me ,i have to swith to survial mode.
I mean,overall ,everyone is diifferent, self study and class and going abroad can be appeal to different people.i hope you pick the best that suit for you.Good luck!
