Part 2

Knowing when to end an article is far more important than most writers realize. You should give as much thought to choosing your last sentence as you did to your first. Well, almost as much.
Like the minister’s sermon that builds to a series of perfect conclusions that never conclude, an article that doesn’t stop where it should stop becomes a drag and therefore a failure.

读到这句话的时候很是被警醒,自己写论文常常花费力气在逻辑的推演、论据的引用,同时尽可能地把句子写得清楚明白,但是往往没有把结论说清楚。以为顺理成章能完成,实际上则是问题意识不够明确,导致行文至最后,给人“戛然而止”“意犹未尽”的感觉。
架构一篇好文章,要注意的细节很多,顾此失彼尚可原谅,最核心的重点则缺一不可。
