Some people regard video games as harmless fun, or even as useful educational tool. Others, however, believe that video games are having an adverse effect on the people who play them. In your opinion, do the drawbacks of video games outweigh the benefits?
As MOBA (Multiplayer online battle arena) has become a trend, a lot of video games have moved their war battle from PC to mobiles. It helps increase the player numbers, but does it really help people balance their spare time better?
Personally, from a very early age, video games have become one of my best friends whenever I want to kill time or even study some fun English. Even better, I met my first online friend in a game called the Galaxy. He was a middle school English teacher who lived in a distant province and clearly was older than me. We always communicate with each other in English in the game and fought goblins and other ugly monsters together. During that time, my English improved just as crazy as my game levels because I was literally speaking English every day in the game. It was a fun time, but after graduating from middle school, I quite. Because I knew that there was something more important to do. Games to me, are just a fun stress reliever. And Even though I am not the type that can actually get addicted to a video game, but I know that a lot of my friends are and they do.
I have one specific friend in middle school. He is really good at playing games. And I can see a lot of potential in him in terms of management and coordination. He spent almost every single awake hour of his playing online games in a net bar. Months later, he set up a player team with over 1,000 members who are from Lanzhou. A large amount of members in it are over 20 years old. It is huge considering the leader was just a middle schooler. Few members knew about his age. They only knew that he was a reliable game pal and was really good at playing the game. However, things got off track gradully for my friend because the only thing that can keep him occupied and focused was the game. He got addicted deeply. And no time soon, he got disappeared from every one’s eyes for the most of time. No school, no family, no friends, only the dark, dusty dwelling in a dimming net bar. I heard that he put all of his pocket money in the game and fed himself off buns and waters once a day. He got screw up, he could have become a real and decent leader.
Undeniably, a lot of people successed in gaining both money and fame by becoming a game commentator or manager, or live streaming games on YouTube. But the real qualities that those people rely on are not how well they can play games, but the same as other successors - grit, perserverness, hard work, and being smart about what and how you want to do with your life.
