Now was the summer vacation, i read the story books by myself coz Melon didn’t need to go to school. This morning I chose “Quick as a cricket” on the bookshelf which attracted me in the first sight. This book was written by Audrey Wood, illustrated by Don Wood.
When I read the cover, I saw a very happy boy who was jumping like a cricket, it was a very touching pic. When i turned to the 1st page “I’m as quick as a cricket”, the pic was so warm and the atmosphere was in harmony. Then it came to “I’m as slow as a snail”, the boy’s figures were moving as slow as the snail beside. The 3rd page went to “I’m as small as an ant”, the boy suddenly became as small as an ant, the boy’s face was so enjoyed. The next page came to “I’m as large as a whale”, the boy enlarged his size as a whale. The whole book was telling a kid’s many characteristics, I loved it coz it was so real and touching. I thought it could surely attract the kid’s attention coz kids’ were just like that. When I turned to the last 2 pages, “put it all together, and you’ve got me!”, this sentence made me think about my family and especially my son.
After finishing this book, I thought deep inside my mind, coz this was just like our kids, a kid may just sometimes brave, sometime slow, sometimes quick, sometimes tough, and etc. the point is these are our kids should be made of. He is not perfect, but he is real, he brings us happiness, as well as sadness. I think that’s enough, to be a qualify parent, I need to accept my kid’s real emotion, no matter he’s sad、hot、weak、wild、lazy、or anything, he is himself who has already brought me lots of happiness, thanks to my kid.
