My Story
People may easily be trapped into arrogance when they reached temporary achievements.
Me, too.
When I was a grade-three student in high school, I was good at science : math, physics , chemistry and biology. At first, principals required us to attend physics, chemistry and biology exam respectively. As you expect, it seemed easy for me. Then, in a monthly formal examination, I was ranked first in my school. This is the best rank I have never reached before.
So you can imagine how excited I was.
And, as you expect, I was trapped into arrogance.I began thinking that since I had proved my ability, I definitely could get good marks in the following exams . After that, the school claimed to update the exam-including physics, chemistry and biology into one paper. It also means we should face three subjects in one exam. Actually , I was little worried about that. But somehow I didn’t spend much time practicing it. I started to put money in games, be absent from evening self-study and stay up late to read novels, thinking I would be okay though the form of exam had changed. Time flew away. The next exam was around the corner.
As you expect, I got a disappointing marks.I was miserable. Regret bite my heart. How I wish I could go back to the past and spend more time in practice as well as study hard. I told myself it was your arrogance that destroyed you. And I could never be willingly to look at my classmates’ shocked and disappointed eyes. Shame and regret were strong power that pushed me to bury myself in study.
So I regained the crown.
I realized if you ignore the changes in the future, immersing yourself in currency, satisfied with the little achievement you have attained, what occurs to you is only failure, a failure that is not affordable.
Embrace the change.
