1. It reduces uncertainties.
2. Have a means of measuring performance.
3. Manage risk in the project.
4. Able to reasonably estimate what the project would entail, which of course can include the costs, the duration, the resources, quality expectations and also how the communication would pass across.
5. Help you to effectively manage your stakeholders.
