尊敬的ICPC主席、各位教練,親愛的青年朋友們:
大家好!非常榮幸能與來自全球三十多個國家和地區的頂尖人才相聚練秋湖畔,共話科技發展與青年擔當。我們正處在一個快速變動的時代,技術浪潮奔湧向前,而希望,始終寄託在放射著青春光芒的你們身上。今天,我想圍繞「務實、連接、原創、人才、土壤、定力」六個關鍵詞,與大家分享一些思考與感悟。
一、務實:讓技術紮根產業,解決真實問題
科技的價值,終究要落地於現實土壤。華為的AI研究從不追逐遠期科幻概念,而是聚焦未來3-5年能切實服務工農業、科技產業的應用場景——從高爐煉鐵優化1%的效率,到地下500-700米煤礦的無人化作業;從天津港、祕魯錢凱港的智能裝卸,到瑞金醫院的病理輔助診斷、中山醫科大學的遠程眼科診療,每一項技術突破都源於真實需求,歸於實際價值。我們堅決反對「為AI而AI」的概念炒作,因為沒有產業落地的技術只是空中樓閣,唯有紮根實際問題,技術才能真正創造社會價值,這是我們不變的務實堅守。
二、連接:打破邊界壁壘,共築創新網絡
創新從來不是孤立的探索,連接是激活價值的關鍵。沒有網絡的算力是信息孤島,孤島化的AI無法實現真正的智能。我們欣喜地看到,ICPC本身就是連接的典範——它打破國家與地域的界限,讓不同文明背景的青年因熱愛相聚,讓學術界、院校與產業界實現深度對話。未來,我們更要推動「物理集中」向「邏輯分散」的連接變革,讓山溝溝裡的學生也能透過網絡汲取世界名校的優質資源,讓全球研究者藉助「黃大年茶思屋」這樣的平台隨時交流,哪怕身處冰島,也能參與全球科技共創。開放的連接,才能讓創新的火花持續迸發。
三、原創:尊重0-1探索,擁抱質疑中的突破
原創是科技發展的源頭活水,而基礎研究的「0-1」突破,恰恰需要寬容與勇氣。我們始終堅信,學校的使命是探索人類未來,哪怕研究失敗,也是對人才的培養與對未知的叩問;企業則負責把這些原創理論轉化為工業現實。在華為,22歲的年輕人能提出「把整個宇宙作為風洞,把地球作為模型」的氣象模型,俄羅斯女孩能發明新的餘數演算法,這些都印證了原創不分年齡、不分國界。同時,原創往往誕生於質疑之中,很多科學突破初期都面臨爭議,我們要鼓勵青年敢於質疑、勇於探索,因為每一次對固有認知的挑戰,都可能開啟新的科技賽道。
四、人才:賦能多元成長,寄託時代希望
時代的進步,終究要靠一代又一代的人才接力。我們對人才的培養,既鼓勵「能摸高就不要去摸低」的拔尖探索,支持有潛力的青年走到行業最高點;也尊重多元發展路徑,哪怕是邊遠地區的本科畢業生,經培養後投身晶片生產、精密製造,同樣是不可或缺的社會貢獻。人才的成長沒有固定模板,ICPC競賽的價值也正在於激發興趣、錘煉能力,而非直接對標商業產出。我們希望青年們保持全球視野,既要敢於去發達國家學習先進經驗,也願學成後能為各自國家的發展貢獻力量——因為天才需要合適的平台,而無論平台在哪裡,人才的價值終將閃耀。
五、土壤:明晰邊界定位,培育創新生態
創新的繁榮,離不開肥沃的生態土壤。這首先需要明確教育與商業的邊界:教育要堅守「探索未知」的本質,不必急功近利;企業要承擔「創造價值」的責任,做好技術轉化。同時,開放包容是培育土壤的關鍵養分。中國的發展得益於改革開放以來對世界優秀文明的吸收,未來我們更要堅持開放,向所有文明國家學習,容納世界的文明成果。我們與ICPC的合作不帶任何功利目的,就是希望搭建一個無國界的交流平台,讓不同國家的青年、不同領域的智慧相互碰撞,讓創新在開放的土壤中自然生長。
六、定力:堅守長期主義,笑對風雨征程
科技探索從來不是一蹴而就的坦途,需要「咬定青山不放鬆」的定力。面對技術瓶頸、外部限制,我們始終聚焦核心目標,不被短期波動所擾——算力受限,我們就深耕演算法優化;環境複雜,我們就堅持務實創新。這種定力,源於對技術價值的堅定信仰,源於對青年一代的深切信任。正如ICPC的競賽之路,沒有捷徑可走,唯有腳踏實地、日積月累,才能收穫成長。希望每一位青年都能保持這份定力,在質疑中前進,在挫折中沉澱,相信時間會見證每一堅持的意義。

Upholding Six Principles for a New Era Journey

Respected ICPC Chairman, distinguished coaches, and dear young friends:
Good day to all of you. It is a great honor to gather with top talents from over 30 countries and regions around the world by the Lianqiu Lake, to discuss technological development and the responsibilities of young generations. We are living in an era of rapid changes, where waves of technological innovation surge forward. And hope, as always, rests on all of you who radiate the brilliance of youth. Today, I would like to share some thoughts and insights around six key words: Pragmatism, Connectivity, Originality, Talent Development, Ecosystem Cultivation, and Steadfastness.
I. Pragmatism: Ground Technology in Industries to Solve Real-World Problems
The value of science and technology ultimately lies in its integration into real-world scenarios. Huawei’s AI research never chases far-fetched sci-fi concepts; instead, it focuses on application scenarios that can effectively serve agriculture, industry, and the tech sector in the next 3 to 5 years. From optimizing blast furnace ironmaking efficiency by 1%, to enabling unmanned operations in coal mines 500-700 meters underground; from intelligent loading and unloading at Tianjin Port and Peru’s Chancay Port, to AI-assisted pathological diagnosis at Ruijin Hospital and teleophthalmology services at Sun Yat-sen University—every technological breakthrough stems from real needs and delivers tangible value. We firmly oppose the hype of "AI for AI’s sake". Without industrial application, technology is nothing but a castle in the air. Only by addressing practical problems can technology truly create social value. This is our unwavering commitment to pragmatism.
II. Connectivity: Break Down Boundaries to Build a Collaborative Innovation Network
Innovation has never been a solitary endeavor; connectivity is the key to unlocking value. Computing power without network connectivity is nothing but an information silo, and siloed AI can never achieve true intelligence. We are delighted to see that ICPC itself serves as a paragon of connectivity—it breaks down national and geographical barriers, bringing together young people from diverse cultural backgrounds bound by their passion for technology, and fostering in-depth dialogue between academia, universities, and industries. Moving forward, we must drive a paradigm shift in connectivity from "physical centralization" to "logical decentralization". This will enable students in remote mountainous areas to access high-quality resources from world-renowned universities via the internet, and allow global researchers to collaborate anytime through platforms like the "Huang Danian Tea House for Scholars"—even those in Iceland can participate in global technological co-creation. Open connectivity is the only way to keep the spark of innovation burning brightly.
III. Originality: Respect 0-to-1 Exploration and Embrace Breakthroughs Amid Skepticism
Originality is the wellspring of technological progress, and 0-to-1 breakthroughs in basic research require nothing less than tolerance and courage. We firmly believe that the mission of universities is to explore the future of humanity—even failed research projects contribute to talent cultivation and the quest for the unknown. Enterprises, on the other hand, are responsible for translating these original theories into industrial realities. At Huawei, a 22-year-old researcher proposed a meteorological model that "treats the entire universe as a wind tunnel and the Earth as a model"; a young Russian woman invented a new remainder algorithm. These examples prove that originality knows no bounds of age or nationality. Meanwhile, originality is often born amid skepticism—many scientific breakthroughs faced controversy in their early stages. We must encourage young people to dare to question and bravely explore, because every challenge to established wisdom has the potential to open up new technological frontiers.
IV. Talent Development: Empower Diverse Growth Paths and Entrust Hope to the Next Generation
The progress of an era ultimately relies on the efforts of generations of talents. In nurturing talent, we not only encourage top-tier exploration by advocating "aim high instead of settling for mediocrity", supporting promising young people to reach the pinnacle of their industries; but also respect diverse development paths. Even undergraduates from remote areas, after proper training, can make indispensable contributions to society by engaging in chip manufacturing and precision engineering. There is no one-size-fits-all model for talent growth. The value of ICPC competitions lies precisely in inspiring interest and honing capabilities, rather than directly targeting commercial outcomes. We hope young people will maintain a global perspective—daring to learn advanced experiences in developed countries, and willing to contribute their knowledge to the development of their home countries upon their return. For genius needs a suitable platform to shine, and wherever that platform may be, the value of talent will always stand out.
V. Ecosystem Cultivation: Clarify Boundaries and Roles to Foster a Thriving Innovation Environment
The prosperity of innovation cannot thrive without a fertile ecosystem. First and foremost, we need to define clear boundaries between education and commerce: education must uphold its essence of "exploring the unknown" without being overly eager for quick gains; enterprises must shoulder the responsibility of "creating value" by facilitating technology translation. Meanwhile, openness and inclusiveness are the vital nutrients for nurturing this ecosystem. China’s development has benefited greatly from absorbing the achievements of outstanding civilizations around the world since the launch of reform and opening-up. Going forward, we will remain committed to openness, learning from all civilized nations, and embracing the fruits of global civilization. Our cooperation with ICPC is driven by no utilitarian motives—we aim solely to build a borderless platform for exchange, where young people from different countries and wisdom from various fields can collide, allowing innovation to grow naturally in an open environment.
VI. Steadfastness: Adhere to Long-Termism and Forge Ahead Despite Challenges
Technological exploration is never a smooth path to success overnight; it requires the unwavering resolve to "keep our eyes fixed on the mountain and never let go". Faced with technological bottlenecks and external restrictions, we stay focused on our core goals, undeterred by short-term fluctuations. When computing power is limited, we delve deeper into algorithm optimization; when the environment grows complex, we stay committed to pragmatic innovation. This steadfastness stems from our firm belief in the value of technology and our profound trust in the younger generation. Just like the journey of ICPC competitions, there are no shortcuts—only through down-to-earth efforts and gradual accumulation can we achieve growth. May every young person maintain this steadfastness, advancing amid skepticism and accumulating experience through setbacks. Trust that time will bear witness to the significance of every act of perseverance.
Young friends, you are the hope of the times and the future of technology. Huawei is willing to join hands with ICPC, with pragmatism as our foundation, connectivity as our bridge, originality as our soul, talent development as our cornerstone, ecosystem cultivation as our root, and steadfastness as our wings. Together with young people around the world, we will empower technology to better serve humanity and let innovation light up our journey into the future. May we all uphold our original aspirations, forge ahead with courage in this rapidly changing era, and jointly write a brilliant chapter for our generation!
