Joy in the Darkness (Frida Kahlo)

You may be a little bit confused about this quote. It is from a renowned Mexican painter who was bedridden by her painful leg injuries at a very young age. She made art about her suffering, composing self portraits that often symbolized her pain. But within that pain, there was beauty. If we imagine Frida's skilled hands as her wings, we can see how she soared through her artistic works, even while suffering. She found freedom in painting, reminding us our losses don't define us. Instead of treating her condition as a roadblock, she thought it as an opportunity.

In our daily lives, there are so many things that can hold us back, whether it's a painful injury, a mental block or an circumstance out of control. It's easy to give up in the face of adversity, but we don't have to. Instead, we can use that paint to propel ourselves into something greater. As Frida Kahlo said, there is always joy to be found in the darkness.
