This semester I have read Wuthering Heights ,and after reading this book I have gained many valuable feelings. So I wrote down the Book Review.
Wuthering Heights is Emily Bronte 's novel. Written between October 1845 and June 1846, Wuthering Heights was published in 1847 under the pseudonym "Ellis Bell"; Bronte died the following year, aged 30. And the author,Emily Bronte is an English novelist and poet who is best known for her only novel,WutheringHeights, now considered a classic of English literature. Anyway,Emily Bronte was a genius in literature.
Wuthering Heights tells a story about Heathcliff who was found and presumably orphaned, on the streets of Liverpool and taken Mr.Earnshaw to Wuthering Heights, and fallen in love with Catherine the daughter of Mr.Earnshaw, but Catherine chose to marry a rich man ,Edgar Linton.Heathcliff's heartbroken and he chose to leave.several years later,he came back to revenge Edgar Linton and Hindley Earnshaw.
The whole story wroted in a Gothic finition.infinitely ,I think Heathcliff is a very terrible man,he treats others in a cruel way,and he is a demon in the story. As more and more pasts show up,I change my mind to Heathcliff ,he also is not good man in traditional ways, but his faith to love and his miserable childhood are move deeply. He is better known for being a romantic hero due to his youthful love for Catherine Earnshaw, than for his final years of vengeance in the second half of the novel, during which he grows into a bitter, haunted man, and for a number of incidents in his early life that suggest that he was an upset and sometimes malicious individual from the beginning. His complicated, mesmerizing, consumable, and altogether bizarre nature makes him a rare character, with components of both the hero and villain.Catherine is a beautiful, interesting but lake the faith of love.Catherine lived with Heathcliff and gave him many unimaginable happy and comforts. In a isolated manor, this kind of love is pure but fragile. When Catherine first visited Thrushcross, she was deeply attracted by the wonderful landscapes and new surroundings,so when Adiga Linton proposed to her,she betrays their love, accepts his proposal of marriage; but, she insists that her true and only love is Heathcliff. She claims that she cannot marry him because it "would degrade her" and that the two would be beggars were such a union to take place. Nevertheless, she also declares her passion for him in such ways as "whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same", and the famous quote "I am Heathcliff." Aware only of Catherine's decision to marry Edgar, rather than her proclamation of true love for him, a bitter Heathcliff leaves Wuthering Heights upon overhearing her saying that it would degrade her and while away, by means unknown, makes his fortune. After Catherine Earnshaw's death, Heathcliff's vindictive cruelty intensifies, aimed at destroying not only his enemies but also their heirs.
All the story ,the most impressive character is Heathcliff, his character is plump, and Heathcliff treats Catherine with relative mercy,Heathcliff's love to Catherine is extremely treasure in such circumstance.
