I can no longer trace back the exact point in my life when I set off searching life purpose.
"Why do I live?"
It’s like a riddle without an answer, intriguing but a little bit annoying.
I’ve spent loads of time thinking about this puzzle but not until recently have I found some satisfying clues.
It’s come to me that since we can take the world as a phenomenon of “emergence”-a piece of concept from complexity theory-arising from the interaction of individual agents and components, the world itself may have its own reason and consciousness like a human being, which is something way beyond our capacity to prove.
Just as our own cells may not understand their position and function in our physical body, we cannot see our meaning and purpose in this universe from where we are, when we are simply parts of this whole perplexing and complex system.
Interestingly, we do have a clear understanding of the contribution of those cells we’ve personally never met to our life maintenance.
Likewise, it’s pretty likely that the world or the universe knows deeply well the value of our existence to their “life” if we believe they do enjoy a certain form of being.
Perhaps, for mankind, the only way to find the real purpose in life is trying to observe themselves from the perspective of the world and the universe, with the help of imagination and observation.
That probably helps explain why imagination matters so much, as Einstein once put it.
However, it looks straightforwardly impossible for us to take a look at ourselves from the world’s point of view unless we are the world itself.
Alternatively, though it can't be the best alternative way out, we shall pick up anything we feel comfortable with to be our purpose and adjust it as life goes on. We cannot tell if this is a message or a hint from the world, when you happen to find something that deeply attracts you all the way through.
Anyone buys what I just put up there may surprisingly find his or her life somehow secretly guided by some invisible hand like the magic's after giving it a deeper probe.
We can only see the gift from the world if we choose to.
That’s what we call a faith.
