It’s such a busy and distinctive trip I have ever had.
The schedule is so compact that I even couldn’t find time to write my story in America during the program. Now, on the plane, back to China, I recall all the things happened these days. It likes to be happened just yesterday. The same seat location, I was so excited to see the different new world there.
I have been dreaming to go abroad so many years. I like English and I am wondering how amazing the world will be where English is spoken everywhere. I want to know whether the things I have learned from the books, the TV, and other people’s words about the America are true. The beautiful building design of house, the high quality of people’s life, the cheaper goods and the better environment. However, things there are much different. I always ask myself what I have learned from the trip. If there must be listed something, it may be concluded to 2 points. Seeing is believing. Don’t be afraid of trying new things.
Things were not so good as I had thought during the first two days. After a long journey to America, I found my luggage was badly broken during the transportation when I got it. It lost two wheels and had many holes. But luckily, it can still move. I asked for help to Roy, who is my coordinator of this trip. Janelle, his wife helped me to ask for refund. But sadly, I was told that I have to take this broken luggage back to China so that I can get the pay. And to a large extent, the money would be very little. As a result, I forgave to get the refund. I comforted myself that I can have a new one. Then we were brought to the JCPenny which our host family were waiting for us there. My American mom and her daughter came. No father, no help. We help ourselves with taking the luggage into the car with a little disappointed. That night, after making everything in order, we went to bed about 1 a.m. This is my new home.
Day 1
It was the first day to go to school. The breakfast was milk with cereals, which is cold. I didn’t like it, so I just eat a little. Before we were going to leave, mom wanted the cat to get out of the room. I tried to get my shoes so that the cat can get out. However, the cat thought I was going to get her so she scratched me☹️.The first day's topic is about family structure. Roy taught us some basic information about American family structure and then brought us to Grandma's home to have a talk with representatives in different kinds of family.
Day 2 & 3
The following 2 days are weekends so we stay with our host family. We went to the cinema and went shopping on Saturday. On Sunday, we went to pick up a Japanese boy. That evening keke and I made some Chinese dishes for them.
Day 4
After the happy days at weekend it came the days that need to study. The topic was public safety. We learned the theoretical knowledge in the morning and then we went to the fire department and policestation for further study. Americans attach great importance to practice, so each topic was followed by an activity.
Day 5
Days were not so boring because of the avticities and tours. On the 5th day, we had a UCLA tour in the morning and then we went to Santa Monica for fun. During the tour to UCLA, we had a task to make a survey to the students there. Through the survey, we got to know the main sources of finaicial aid which are used by most of the students there.
