Today is Thursday.
Miss Kelly asked the children to line up and told them that it was time to go home. She also asked Sharon to lead the girls and Andrew the boys. Some luck! Just when he got to be leader he had to stand next to Sharon! When they were in line Sharon whispered to Andrew that she knew how to get them. Andrew asked how to get what. Sharon said freckles. Who asked her? She told Andrew that she had heard he ask Nicky about that, running her tongue along her teeth like she always did. And then she asked if Andrew wanted to know how to get them. Andrew told her maybe. Sharon whispered that it would cost him fifty cents and she had a secret recipe for freckle juice. Andrew almost cried out doubtfully. Sharon put her finger on her mouth and asked Andrew to keep quiet. Her tongue reminded Andrew of a frog catching flies. He wondered if Sharon ever got a mouthful of bugs the way she opened her mouth and wiggled her tongue around. Andrew inspected Sharon’s face and said that she didn’t even have freckles.
