China is a major country in the east boasting a 5000-year civilization. We Chinese people have always believed in peace, and have never had expansionism in blood. More than 600 years ago, leading the most powerful fleet in the world, Zheng He has taken 7 expeditions to the Pacific ocean and West Indian ocean, visiting over 30 countries and regions without encroaching even an inch of land. It was hard for western countries that were crazy about colonial expansion to understand that China had never taken any lands from other countries. Moreover, in today's world of globalization, the notions like peace, development, collaboration and win-win have become the call of the times, therefore there shall be no room for expansionism. Thus, we will not and can not let the mistakes made in the past repeat itself, and we will be determined to explore a brand new path. Perhaps few knows that, insisting on peaceful development has already been enshrined into the constitution of the People's Republic of China and the Party Charter of the CPC by which we must abide. It has indicated our resolution to pursue peace.
Confucius, the Chinese ancient saint, advocated "harmony in diversity" and that "We should always treat others the way we want to be treated". These thoughts teeming with truth and wisdom can be also applied to relations between countries. Only by respecting differences among us and putting ourselves in others shoes, can we build harmonious relations. There is no universal paradigm that suits every country.
