So, about one month ago I watched the new Mission Impossible movie, Fallout, and (I get a lot of ideas from movies, wow!), for one, it was amazing and second, gave me an idea for this article!
Now, the main point for this movie series was to prove that anything is possible as long as you work as a team and believe in each other (at least that's what I got out of it). Ethan Hunt and his team take on crazy challenges to try to save the world. These missions are deemed, 'impossible', but in the end, nothing is proved to be impossible. Today I would like to share with you what I have learnt from this movie. Something that is very rarely done by me as I take a film's purpose merely for entertainment purposes.
The first point I would like to state is that from all the spy movies and crazy movies that sit in that approximate category, they all have one thing in common. The people that come to stop the main threat, all work as a team and are very trusting of each other. Whether it's because they can not afford to lose any more time, or they just want to save the world and become famous, they have full trust in each other and do not take even a second to hesitate an idea. Though I have already written an article similar to this subtopic, I would like to reiterate this meaning through the example of the Mission Impossible film.
In real-life work situations, we should act as if this is the last hour that you would be with your team. This would ensure that your mindset is always concentrated and fortunate, ultimately accepting every idea that comes your way and seeing the benefit it brings to the team. At the same time spitting out all ideas from your mind. This very quality and spirit are shown during the entire movie, as tension arises, the closer the bond between the comrades. Appreciate your team, because every team and person has their way of showing their area of superiority. We just have to find a way to unlock the potential.
My second point would be their marvellous ability to never take down a challenge. In other words, immense courage. Again, relating to the real world, we all face challenges every day. Whether those challenges are small, like spilling your coffee, or bigger challenges like being bullied. We can all find a way to either, discard those obstacles or find a way to surpass them. I choose to always surpass challenges as it allows me to learn from where I went wrong. From personal experience, I can confidently say that making mistakes during practise runs or tests is much better than making a mistake in the real thing. Though in some rare cases I would disregard those obstacles and move on. When things take up your time and are too expensive (in any way) to carry out, discontinue. All of us often forget that our most valuable resource is time. It can not be bought, it can not be saved, it can not be made. When problems cut into our time we must take a moment to reconsider. Lesson two, over.
My final point that I have is to not take everything over-serious. This may be a bit cliche, but it makes a good point. When completing tasks, we must not take everything so serious. As seen in the movie, they failed to complete one of the tasks but they didn't panic, they just took it calmly and started thinking of other viable solutions. Things will never have a %100 success rate, so we must be ready for the best and the worst. This also links to my other two points. When completing tasks, your best bet would be to first consider the complexity. Whether you'll need teammates or not. Having extra brains and hands is always better. Secondly, to consider if this task or problem is taking too much valuable time. If to a certain degree of your inconvenience, then discard. Third, calm down and take the task as if you were eating ice cream.
Though I must warn you, I do not mean to take things as not important or meaningless when I talk about not taking things too seriously. I truly mean to establish the complexity of the task and to adjust you and your team to it. To a degree of your golden performance, where things are not too spicy and not too sweet.
As humans, we can never expect to be always correct. Even the things we design will always have some sort of loophole in it. 1 + 1 may not equal 2. Eventually, humans and our technology will find an alternative to everything. What I'm really trying to say is that, when we are in trouble, there is always another way. There is always another technique. There is always another person. Just remember these three points and...
