I urge you to enrich that experience for your daughter this summer holiday in ways which are beyond the narrowly academic. Read books to your daughter and read with her; visit museums with her; wonder at places of beauty with her; build sandcastles with her and swim in the sea with her; climb hills and mountains with her; fish in rock pools with her; walk through meadows with her; canoe, kayak, cycle, walk and run with her; cook, sew, craft, build, paint and draw with her. And, most important of all, laugh with her so that she returns in September fresh, happy and open to continuing her learning in the most positive spirit and frame of mind as possible.
