Having a pet is a big decision (决定) for many people. Pets need time, care, patience (忍耐), training, and most importantly, LOVE! It doesn't matter what type of pet you have because when you have a pet, you must be responsible for it. From cats and dogs to birds, rabbits, turtles (龟), lizards (蜥蜴), fish, or baby chickens they are all great pets to have!

Why should I have a pet?
Pets make us feel better! Really they do! There is information that tells us we are happier when we have pets in our home. We feel less pressure (压力), and pets are good for our hearts. Look at the science people!
Pets are great to teach kids about being responsible (主管) and caring about others. Pets are a great tool to help kids focus (焦点) on giving attention instead of always looking for attention from others. A pet will give them a lot of the attention they need.
The last reason to have pets are they can improve our social ability. Pets are often a good way to talk with others. In your home or outside, it's often nice to share with others about your experience as a pet owner (主人). Your pets also need to be social. They want to make friends too! lols.

How do I care for a pet?
Pets aren't as difficult as you may think. They need food, water, a comfortable place to sleep, keep clean, and see the doctor sometimes. They need to be safe, and some of them need exercise. The most important thing from you is having the time to take care of them.

**Are pets expensive? **
This is not an easy answer to give you. Dogs are the most expensive (贵) pet to have, followed by cats or rabbits. You have to buy food, toys, a small bed, and other items to take good care of them. The most expensive cost (花费) is going to the doctor. It depends on the type of dog or cat you have. Some need more care than others.
Before you get a pet, look into the costs of them, and decide if you can do it or not. Pets are not FREE to care for! I will say they aren't too expensive usually, but there are many different factors(因素) to think about.
Remember, when you get a pet, they are now part of your family, so you must take care of them like any other family member.
