After the reading tree of Oxford series, here Longnan series come. They are also very interesting.
Today I will show you (aged 3-6) a story 《A Farm》which shared by my student Yo-yo. Thanks to her sharing for this interesting story.
The author is Christine Bruce. Before we start this story, we can sing the song ‘BINGO’. ‘There is a farmer (who) had a dog, and Bingo was his name o, BINGO, BINGO, BINGO, and Bingo was his name o.
Wow, great! Here is a farmer on the cover, too. And besides him is tractor. What is a tractor? Have you ever seen it? Where can you see it? OK. Maybe someone sees it, maybe most of the children haven’t seen it before. Let me tell you the tractor is a kind of vehicles. It is used for doing farm work. So you can not see it in the big city.
The story starts :
Farmer Jones buys a new tractor. He drives it back to Sunny Farm. He leaves the new tractor by the pond.
‘Hello. I’m a new tractor. My name is Toby. Where can I stay?’ asks Toby.
‘Quack! Quack!’ say the ducks. ‘You make a lot of noise. You can stay with the hens. They are noisy too.’ ‘Where is the hen house?’ asks Toby. It’s over there. It’s behind the farmer’s house.’ answer the ducks.
Then Toby goes to the hen house, but.....
Next Toby goes to the stables, but....
After that Toby goes to the pigsty, the goat pen, the cow shed, the sheep pen. But...
Finally, Toby goes to the barn. And he has got his place to stay.
From this story, the babies may be insterested in the voice of different animals. For the elder students, they may learn the animals living place and the position prepositions ‘behind, between, in front of, next to, etc.’
Further reading, you may let the children just find their own position, don’t be sad if the other children don’t play with them. Find your own happy thing and you will be glad everyday.
