<the lost crab> is written by Dr.julie M. Wood. Illustrated by Sebastian Broun. This <I can read> sery is quite good for reading starter. My son Simon likes it very much!
Today I read this book for Simon on our way to kindergarten. It was a new way of reading we never did it before. When I open the storybook, Simon was on a seasaw. To make sure he was listening, I asked him some questions on each page. Such like, what do Big pig and Tug the pup do in the picture? Are they eating pizza? Simon glanced at the picture and answered, “ Pie!” He meant they are eating pies.
“Who are they in the story?”
“The little crab is lost. Will you help him?”
“ Guess what is big and blue in the story?”
“Where is the crab live?”
Talking about the story with Simon in English, that’s really good way for him to build up his speaking confidence!
About the story:
After reading.
We were on the way to kindergarten, so we needed to move. But Simon still wanted to play with the seesaw. Haha, I had a good idea! “ Simon, let’s go look for a crab!” I said in Chinese and English. It worked! Simon got off the seesaw, started to look for a crab! He called out, “ Little crab where are you?” Simon led me to the artificial lake, he said, “ mummy, I see a sea!” His words surprised me. “ It is a lake. Who lives in the lake, let’s go and find out!” I said to him. We saw fishes swimming in the water. We saw dragonflies flying upon the lake. Don’t forget we were going to the kindergarten. So I asked Simon to say goodbye to the little insects we met on our way, “ bye, Little fish. Bye bye, little dragonfly, I am going to school. I’ll come back soon!” We went to school happily. It was a great morning!
