Fixed schedule.

With a fixed schedule, employees start and leave work at the same time each day.

A common fixed schedule is 9 am to 5 PM Monday through Friday.

A fixed schedule makes it easy for employers to keep track of what employees are doing.

Flexible schedule.

A flexible schedule allows employees to change their schedules depending on their needs.

For example, an employee may work from 9 am to 5 PM on Monday and Thursday and 11 am to 8 PM on other workdays.

With a flexible schedule. Employees may have different working hours.

So it may be difficult for employers to organize work among their employees.


  Full time work schedule.

In a full time job employees usually have the same working hours each week.

For instance, many full time employees work 35 to 40 hours per week.

Part time work schedule.

In a part time job, employees can have a shorter working week than full time employees.

For example, a part time employee may work less than 30 hours a week.

Many restaurant waiters work part time.

Shift work schedule.

In a shift, one group of workers starts work as another group finishes.

For instance, to provide 24 hour service to patients. Doctors at a hospital work in shifts.

Ships can vary from six hours to eight or more hours depending on their daily schedule.


And what kind of job may employees work less than 30 hours a week?

Many restaurant waiters work part time.

Shifts allow an organization to provide 24 hour service.
