TGIM, Thank God, It’s Monday 之我见:)

In the past few weeks, a term titled  “ 996” went viral, was ferociously attacked all around the nation, and even spread to The US and European countries.
Today, I  read  an article about being obsessed with work to a new level that people are chanting “ TGIM”  - “ Thank god IT’s Monday!” and “ Thank God I can work on Mondays when others are fired!”

In other words, “TGFM” people see work as everything, and all they  care about is to work.

I guess that the major reasons for their obsessions can be divided into 3 reasons:

Reason 1:
Millennials’ job opportunities are dwindling – after 13 to 15 years of intense education, they couldn’t find highly profitable and stable jobs. When facing precarious and high-demanding jobs, “ being obsessed with job” becomes their only chance to hold a job.

Reason 2:
Most of today’s employers ( high-tech companies, especially) are using slogans and “ chicken soup” messages to “brainwash” their employees. As fewer and fewer people are following organized religions ( Christianity and Buddhism) , their 80-hour + work week is becoming their new religion.

“ God is going to help me” is being turned into “ working is going to save my life!”

Many companies’ tempting slogans include “ Just do it!,”  “ Creativity can change the world,” “ Life is not meant to be wasted, working hard is the key!”  It’s easy to imagine that working in these companies, being fiercely competitive, working super hard, and working to die is deemed as highly “ spiritual” rituals as if being a workaholic can find these people their true  meaning of life as religions did in the past thousands of years.

Unfortunately, the 10% of the world richest people( your boss) is the benefiter of all your hard labor, not you. They took 90% of all you made, left you very little, and still expected your gratitude – “ Thank you, Boss,  I owe you  my life !”

Finally, people are obsessed with their work because all the social media ( face book, Instagram…) are propagandizing it as a positive culture. Workaholics show up their “ stories” on their WeChat pages to show off  their hard work, and equalize it to their “ dignity,” “ pride,” and “ excellency!”

People who don’t show their obsessions are “ slackers” and “ losers” in their eyes.

Wake up, people! Dying in hospitals will be the  final and only reward when working obsessively!

And When workaholics  are drop-dead, all their hardworking-achieved awards will be thrown into trash bins instantly, and  their  jobs will  be immediately offered to others before their  eulogies appeared on newspapers.
