I remember it was June. One afternoon, I backed from school and went to visit my grandma first as usual. Because her house was on my way home, and oftentimes she would prepare us( I mean not only me but for all of her grandchildren)some yum things, like peach cans, old-fashioned cakes or candies.
I was the first one showed up that afternoon. She gave me some fried dough twists, which were given by her daughter. Then she asked me to go to the henhouse to collect those eggs for her before I went home. Well, it wasn't a hard errand, cos there were only five and one of them was a rooster.
So after finished eating, I went direct to the backyard with a little bowl in my hand. Since the door of the henhouse was too small, even a two grade child like me had to bend down, in order to get into it. In a squatting position, I could only see the top of the white eggs, which were gathered in the middle of the roost. But it didn't matter, after all I had done this so many times before. So I reached out to grab them one by one.
But all of a sudden, I felt like my fingers touched something cold, rough and creeping. Out of instinct, I draw back my hand almost immediately, and chin up to see what it was.
For a few seconds I just frozen there like a statue, cos there was a long brown snake, covered in black patterns. It was wrapping Its body around the eggs and staring at me with its deadly tongue went out and in...
I dropped the bowl and crept out with a scream. And was ill for the followed two days with a high fever.
