OK，I would like to share with you the time when i receive money as gift for my entry to college.
After i was admitted to Zhejiang university of technology, my parents invite my relatives and their friends and colleges to restaurant for a feast to celebrate.
It is a Chinese tradition that parents treat guests for dinner before their children's marriage or entry to school、or even migration. Chinese people regard it as an auspicious start, which means they can get ride of the obstacles on their way smoothly.
It resemble American's party to some extent.
And during the dinner, my uncle、my brother and my friends all gave their congratulations and red packets to me.
As you know, Chinese always enclose money into red envelope. In our concept, red packets can brings good fortune. /'fɔrtʃən/
