The era of ICT (Information Communication Technology) is here. We are in the future now. The age of cheap labor force has already passed. Human labor cannot meet the needs of the rapidly developing economy.
Let us take driving as an instance. The human driver would be substituted by self-driving cars in the future. Actually, the CEO of Baidu (Baidu is a website corporation in China, which is similar to Google) Li Yanhong—also known as Robin Li—who has driven through the Fifth Ring Road of Beijing in 2017, by using the self-driving technology. Scientists are improving the self-driving technology. “It may take three to five years to put fully autonomous-driving vehicles on truly open roads,” Baidu Chairman and CEO Li Yanhong said on March 15th. (Fan, 2018)
Some people would consider a self-driving car is dangerous. In fact, the self-driving service is much safer than a human driver. Because people will get tired, distracted, drunk while self-driving cars would not. The human driver would make the different mistake while machines would not. Therefore, the AI driver is much more reliable than human drivers.
Your child probably cannot hunt for a job, which can lead to higher unemployment. Many occupations will disappear in the future as AI (Artificial Intelligence) replaces humans in many fields. In fact, McKinsey—one of the most famous management consulting companies in the world—has already inferred that there are 800 million people who will lose jobs because of AI development (David, 2017). AI will cut 47% of jobs worldwide. (Philip, 2017)
The world is changing rapidly. My generation doesn’t have too much experience to follow from our parents’ generation. Approximately 47% of occupation will disappear (Philip, 2017). The “EXPERIENCE” is no longer that significant to the young generation. Success will not be copied anymore. What we should do and what we can do which is up to the youth of China. Take a typical example in China, there is still a great number of schools producing “testing machines” instead of helping children to be versatile and educating them how to be a person. Essentially, we have to understand what will be needed in the future of the society, the creative.
Today’s society doesn’t need people who can only obey the orders, because outsourcing has become a major trend in the marketplace. Simultaneously, AI will take over a huge part of the market of the occupation in the future. Most of the tedious spots will be taken by outsourcing and AI. The pattern of the market is following the development of the technology, and the changing of the consciousness of the customer. It is a superlative period for the people who have no the transcript from a famous university, but possess a considerable passionate and suitable capacity. In fact, more and more corporations have already realized, like Google, Facebook, Xiaomi, etc. Those corporations prefer giving more freedom to the employees rather than order them. Hence the employees have already possessed most of the right. They can apply for their own program and recruit the team members (Laszlo, 2015; Susan, 2017). If you are an employee of Google, you are encouraged to spend 20% of your time on a project of your choosing. (Susanne, 2011) They are working for the program, working on what they want to do, but not any supervisor or orders. The passion of the employee is fired up. Motivated and energized employees are always interesting and engaging than bored and passive ones (Carmine, 2015). Therefore, the corporations prefer the person who has who’s personal idea instead of a trend follower.
Nevertheless, we still have many choices in the future. We could engage in the fields that the AI couldn’t be in. The reason why human is beings at the top of the food chain which is because humans have complex emotions and advanced thinking ability. Now, the development of technology is pushing us to use our brain again, not just using professional knowledge, but also the creative thinking and critical thinking abilities.
