As Eve was scrolling through a QQ channel, she came across a post asking if anyone wanted to play Werewolf at Siyun at 8 o'clock that evening. She had no classes that night, so she left a comment saying she'd like to join. A little while later, the original poster sent her a friend request and added her to a Werewolf group chat, where it was announced that 13 people were already signed up to play. The organizer emphasized once again that everyone should meet at Siyun at 8, and the group responded enthusiastically one after another.
Promptly at 8 p.m., Eve arrived at Siyun. Following the map shared in the group chat, she located the exact spot, where 13 people were already sitting in a circle—she was the last one to show up. A girl greeted her warmly and asked everyone to make room for her to sit down. After Eve took her seat, the girl introduced herself as Evelyn. She pointed out that the guy to her right was Player 1, she herself was Player 2, and the rest were numbered from 3 to 13 in sequence, then she asked everyone to introduce themselves one by one. Player 1 said his name was Cornell, Player 3 was Lionel, Player 4 was Harold, Player 5 was Moore, Player 6 was Abner, Player 7 was Dennis, Player 8 was Blanche, Player 9 was Valerie. Eve, who was Player 10, introduced herself, Player 11 was Phyllis, Player 12 was Wendy, and Player 13 was Gale.
Evelyn then began explaining the rules—they would be playing the White Werewolf, Guardian, and Half-Breed variant that day. Eve was already familiar with this setup, so instead of listening closely, she found herself stealing glances at Evelyn. The girl was incredibly outgoing, exuding natural leadership, and seemed to know the game inside out. Eve thought to herself that apart from their names sharing a faint similarity, she and Evelyn had nothing else in common. As Evelyn talked, she shuffled the role cards, and by the time she finished the rules, the cards were ready to be dealt. When Eve received her card, she peeked at it—she had been assigned the role of the Half-Breed. She made up her mind on the spot to side with Evelyn in the game.
Once everyone had received and checked their cards, Eve was about to ask where the moderator was when a voice suddenly rang out: "It's nightfall—please close your eyes." She obediently shut hers.
"Half-Breed, please open your eyes and choose your role model for this game."
Eve held up two fingers, indicating that she had chosen Evelyn as her role model.
Next, the players in other roles took turns opening their eyes to perform their respective abilities, followed by the process of closing eyes to prepare for the nomination phase. As the Half-Breed, Eve naturally stayed "off the ballot" and waited to cast her vote later.
"Daybreak! Based on the random number 5, Player 5 will start the speeches in clockwise order."
"Pass!" Player 5 said flatly. Eve recognized this as a tactic to pressure the players speaking after him.
Player 6 claimed, "I've checked Player 7—he's a werewolf." He didn't specify his target for the next round of investigation. Eve immediately knew he wasn't the Seer, but she couldn't tell if he was a good guy bluffing to flush out the wolves or a werewolf fabricating an identity to mislead the others.
Player 9 stated firmly, "I've checked Player 11—she's a werewolf. My badge flow will be Player 6 first, then Player 3." Eve thought this accusation carried significant weight, especially since Player 11 had also put herself forward for nomination. She was eager to hear how Player 11 would defend herself.
Player 11 insisted, "I'm a good person. I won't reveal my role for now, but I think Player 6's behavior is highly suspicious." Eve felt that holding back one's role during the nomination phase was acceptable; she'd need to wait for Player 11's post-nomination speech to update her judgment.
Player 13 opined, "Player 6 is probably a good guy bluffing, but Player 11's refusal to reveal her role makes her look like a wolf for sure." Eve couldn't get a read on him—he sounded equally plausible as a wolf or a good guy.
Player 1 argued, "Player 6 is either the Half-Breed or a Villager. Player 9 and Player 11 are clearly wolves framing each other. I'm firmly siding with the players who spoke later." Eve thought his perspective seemed a bit too sharp and ahead of the curve; she couldn't tell if he was a wolf or a skilled good player.
Finally, it was time for her role model, Player 2, to speak—and Eve listened with extra attention. Player 2 declared, "I'm siding with Player 9. I think Player 1, who accused Player 9 and Player 11 of wolf-on-wolf, is definitely a wolf. The last two speakers, Player 3 and Player 4, must be hiding one of Player 1's wolf teammates. Since Player 1 said Player 6 is either the Half-Breed or a Villager, that makes Player 6 an implied innocent. We should vote Player 11 out today." Having heard this, Eve made up her mind to cast her badge vote for Player 9.
Then Player 3 spoke up, "I've checked Player 2—she's a werewolf. My badge flow will be Player 6, then Player 10, then Player 12." Alarm bells went off in Eve's head. Is my role model actually a wolf? she wondered. Then Player 9, who Evelyn is siding with, must be a wolf too. Does that mean I have to play for the wolf team now?
Player 4 backed Player 9, asserting, "Player 3 is definitely a fake Seer. Player 11 is confirmed a wolf, and Players 5 and 6 are good people. Player 1's identity is highly questionable. I suggest Player 9 investigate someone who didn't run for nomination tonight." Eve thought to herself—since Player 4 is siding with Player 9, could he be Evelyn's wolf teammate?
"Nomination speeches are now concluded. Time for players to withdraw from nomination or declare themselves werewolves. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. The remaining nominated players are Player 3 and Player 9. All players not in the nomination phase, please close your eyes and vote for either Player 3 or Player 9 to be the Sheriff. 3, 2, 1—cast your votes."
Eve closed her eyes and cast her vote for Player 9.
"Player 9 is elected Sheriff! Last night was a safe night. Sheriff, please choose the speech order: clockwise from the Sheriff or counterclockwise from the Sheriff. Player 8, you will speak first."
Player 8 said, "I don't think Player 6 is the Seer. I'm siding with Player 9." Eve thought her speech was a bit lazy and uninformative—maybe she was new to the game just like herself. She couldn't be sure if Player 8 was Player 9's wolf teammate either.
Player 7 commented, "There must be a wolf between Player 1 and Player 2. I can't decide who to side with just by listening to Player 3 and Player 9's speeches alone. I need to hear Player 1 and Player 2 speak again before aligning myself with the people I believe are good." Eve frowned—his reasoning was weak; choosing a side should relyon judging each player's speech independently.
Player 6 shrugged, "I'm on both Seer candidates' first badge flow lists, so I don't need to pick a side yet. I'll align myself with whoever confirms I'm a good person." Eve was speechless—he had stirred up so much trouble during the nomination phase and now wanted to sit back and avoid taking a stand.
Player 5 first questioned the speech order, "Why is the accused player the last to speak?" But he still sided with Player 9, suggesting, "We should investigate either Player 1 or Player 2 next round." Eve couldn't agree more—the speech order was indeed suspicious. It felt like a small slip-up from Player 9, who was probably Player 2's wolf teammate.
Player 4 doubled down on siding with Player 9, saying, "We vote Player 11 out today. The Witch should poison Player 3 tonight. I think Players 1, 5, and 7 are suspicious. I suggest Player 9 investigate the players who gave lazy speeches." Eve was now convinced—Player 4 was definitely Player 9's wolf teammate.
Player 3 insisted, "Player 6 is a good person. I'm suspicious of Player 10's identity. Witch, please reveal who you saved last night to clarify the situation. We should vote out my confirmed wolf target, Player 2, today." Eve now thought Player 3 was the real Seer—but loyal to her role model Evelyn, she couldn't bring herself to side with him.
Player 2 advised, "Player 9, you should investigate Player 7 and Player 12 next. We vote Player 11 out today. I think Players 1 and 3 are wolves, and Players 4 and 10 are good people." Finally, she made a big reveal: "I'm the Witch—and I saved Player 6 last night." Eve felt a surge of joy at being defended by her role model. She was certain Evelyn was a wolf posing as the Witch—good players might not buy her act, so Eve knew she'd have to speak up to defend her later.
Player 1 announced, "I'm a powerful good role. I suspect Players 7, 8, and 11 are the wolf pack. I think Player 3 is the Half-Breed who sided with the wolves. Let's vote Player 11 out today." Eve thought—since he's claiming to be a strong god, she'd hold off on suspecting him for now.
Player 13 sided with Player 9 and challenged Player 1: "I don't believe you're a strong god. We vote Player 11 out today." Eve mused—if Player 13 was questioning Player 1's claim, maybe he was the real strong god himself.
Player 12 voiced her suspicions about Players 1 and 5, saying, "I think Players 4 and 6 are good people. I'm siding with Player 9—let's vote Player 11 out today." Eve was astonished—why were so many people siding with Player 9, who was clearly a wolf? But she shrugged it off—she'd just follow Evelyn's lead and vote for Player 11 anyway.
Player 11 finally spoke up in her defense: "Player 3 has no teammates—that's proof he's the real Seer. I'm siding with Player 3. We should vote out his confirmed wolf target, Player 2." Eve thought—Player 11 still wasn't revealing her role, which probably meant she had no special role at all. It looked like she was doomed to be voted out by both the wolves and the good players who had chosen the wrong side.
At long last, it was Eve's turn to speak. She was determined to fight hard for her role model. She declared firmly, "Player 11's refusal to reveal her role during the nomination phase already made her look super suspicious—that's why I voted for Player 9 in the Sheriff election. Now, even after the nomination phase, she still won't show her role. She's definitely a wolf. Unless we're looking at a wolf-on-wolf scenario, I'm siding with Player 9. We vote Player 11 out today."
Sheriff Player 9 revised her badge flow to Players 5 and 12, identified Players 3 and 11 as her wolf targets, stated that Players 6 and 7 were good people, expressed suspicion about Player 1's identity, and made her final decision: "We vote Player 11 out today."
"All speeches are now concluded. Please close your eyes and prepare to vote. Sheriff, please announce your final vote target. Sheriff votes for Player 11. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1—cast your votes."
"Player 11 has been eliminated. Please deliver your final words."
Player 11 simply said, "Pass." Eve thought to herself—Player 11 definitely didn't play like a good person. Could it be that Player 9 and Player 11 really were wolves framing each other after all?
"Player 11's final words are concluded. Do you wish to activate any special skills? 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Everyone, it's nightfall—please close your eyes."
Eve closed her eyes once more.
