Fern returned home and told her mother she could hear the talking between animals, which made her mother begin to worry about her. In the eyes of her mother, animals didn't talk. Therefore, it was very weird for her to hear them.
If you are interested in reasons why Fern could do that, you can check my former articles in the last.

A spider's web seems to be easily broken
because it is made of thin, delicate strands. But actually, it is very strong.
However, a web gets torn every day by the insects that kick around in it, and a spider must rebuild it when it gets full of holes.
One afternoon when Charlotte was doing her weaving, Fern sat nearby and watched quietly. Then she heard a most interesting conversation and witnessed a strange event which were all about Wilbur.
“I could spin a web if I tried,” said Wilbur, boasting. “I've just never tried.”
“Let’s see you do it,” said Charlotte. Fern chuckled softly, and her eyes grew wide with love for the pig.
“O.K.,” replied Wilbur. “You coach me and I'll spin one. It must be a lot of fun to spin a web. How do I start?”
Wilbur, a pig, wanted to spin a net and believed himself could spin one. Could you image that? It was very funny.
Wilbur had tried twice but all ended with a failure.
At his first try, Wilbur totally did as Charlotte said. He took a deep breath and climbed to the highest place, then he jumped out into the air. However, nothing happened unless he landed with a thump.
Wilbur believed if he had a little piece of string to hold himself, he definitely could spin a wet. Therefore, he decided to try again and he asked Templeton(the rat) to help him.
Charlotte watched in delight. Like Fern, she was truly fond of Wilbur, whose smelly pen and stale food attracted the flies that she needed, and she was proud to see that he was not a quitter and was willing to try again to spin a web.
This time, also ended with a failure and was more miserable compared with the first time.
"Everybody watch!" he cried. And summoning all his strength, he threw himself into the air, headfirst. The string trailed behind him. But as he had neglected to fasten the other end to anything, it didn't really do any good, and Wilbur landed with a thud, crushed and hurt. Tears came to his eyes.
Charlotte advised him to put the idea that was to spin a net out of his mind. That was because that he lacked two things needed for spinning a web: a set of spinnerets and know-how. And he did not need a web to trap food, his food was supplied by Zucherman. Therefore, it was OK with him unknown to spin a web.
As darkness fell, Wilbur lay in his pen. Suddenly he remembered what the old sheep had told him. The thought of death came to him and he began to tremble with fear. He expressed his love to this world again and he wanted to know how Charlotte would save him. However, Charlotte didn't really know now. She was just working on a plan.
My thinking:
1.Try everything, you will gain something
Wilbur hadn't have spinned a web before, but he tried to do it bravely.Although he didn't succeed, he had learnt something from it. That is, not all creatures can spin webs. Even men aren't as good at it as spiders, every creature has their own ways to live, he and humans needn't to spin a web to get food.
Try everything, especially things you are not familiar with. DO not to consider whether you will succeed or not, just have a try. Believe me, it will surprise you. OR at least, you will learn something from it.
2.Never hurry and never worry
If something is destined to happen, there is no use worrying about it.
Wilbur was afraid of death. He was so afraid that he even couldn't fall asleep. BUT his anxiety with death wouldn't get him rid of death. It was Charlotte who could save him. What he needed to do was believed in Charlotte and led a happy life as before.
I think that the best choice to Wilbur is to believe Charlotte.Wilbur, himself, did not know how to save himself except screaming. If Charlotte could find a way to save him, it was good; if not, at least he had spent the last hours of his life happily.
Never hurry and never worry! Chew your food thoroughly and eat every bit of it, except you must leave just enough for Templeton. Gain weight and stay well—that’s the way you can help. Keep fit, and don’t lose your nerve."
Never hurry and never worry.Hurry will make you lose your direction;worry will make you lose yourself. To be a sedentary spider like Charlotte, stay put and wait for what comes. Nothing will beat you unless yourself.
