A good friend of mine feels the unhappiness behind cynicism...a state of mind which is very common in our present world situation...
We discussed it...and I wonder whether you would be interested in this topic...
If you are, allow me to bring the essence of our Conversation here...it will be an English exercise as well as perhaps a good thought for the day...bringing hope and happiness where there is perhaps too much cynicism...?

i would say that cynical statements come from people who suffer unhappiness in a world that fails them on many ways....
....they see the destruction and senseless materialism, greed, war, poverty, inhumanity, and feel powerless in facing it....
...no wonder!
But, they also have a LOGICAL way of seeing the world, as their schools taught them to believe in numbers, math, etc.
Logic says that we are lost, unable to surmount the problems caused by so many idiot egotists...
Ecological disaster is inevitable when seen by logical minds.
So, we may consider that our general arrogance as human masters of this world, and logical thinkers, is the wrong approach.
I believe, that we need to remember our much greater intelligence: HEART INTELLIGENCE.
Our hearts know how to deal with the hopelessness, with the poverty, the human suffering. We are born as beings in the 'Image of God'. I think that means we are God~like, creative, loving, compassionate beings. We can start to use that amazing intelligence again, and many of us are already doing it!......
You say it:Trust between people is lost by the fight against each other.
We can feel hope again, by starting our illogical love engine...our heart intelligence. We will unleash most powerful energies...and we'll feel better in our world, able to make a difference, if we can see our human fellows as family, brothers and sisters!
Then we will overcome logical deadends, which make us hopeless, and cynical!! Depressed, in fact.
You can feel power again this way, because you know instinctively, intuitively, that there is a way...that we can win this thing!

Your heart is much more intelligent than just your 'logical deduction machine', the brain alone....because the heart can jump over mountains, where your Logic counts the gravity and the height, etc. and says NO, there is no way.
So, cynical attitude is a product of logical thinking alone, forgetting the heart and its powers!
