We were insensible of such a song
When getting up, the engine room nearby was wailing motor sound
We were worried about future, it was like a diamond in a garbage dump
We suddenly bursted and kept singing
In fact we must pack the luggage
In fact we have set off, eyes filled with notes
In fact we didn't understand but we were exchanging keys
In fact we had nowhere to go but thought every door in the world could be opened
Who have noticed us of great enthusiasm
Is it because we have awakened, the world has changed as a consequence?
Is it our obtuseness rewarded with Good Luck
If so we were hopelessly obtuse
This song was given up intentionally tonight
This song was altered tonight like lover changing her mind
This song sewed our sleeping bag tonight like a sewing machine

老宋(人在北极):1,诗题为《在今夜》,翻译时可能为了押韵,把"今夜"放在句尾,我觉得直接在句首更合适原诗感。 2,第二句,indulging引导的句子,让人感觉是歌曲,英语中的引导句我觉得不合中文的,因为歌曲不会痛苦,而是人才会。3,后面的类似动名词引导句都有同样问题。比如,“从头开始",beginning,when getting up.....主语表达都应该是人,而非歌曲或者机器。4,insensible也值得商榷,那是表达感觉,不太像表达认知,我认为不是没感觉那首歌。notes虽然有音符的意思,但应该有连贯句的表达。否则不太直接。5,段落在英文时态表达也觉得交叉变化与中文的表达感有出入。第三段落感觉更合适是现在时态。因为是一种状态的表达。who的后面动词更适合用单数,因为那更符合习惯。即使中文表达可能带有复数。6,第四段我觉得可以重新翻译,或许更能有感觉。最后一段中的“恋人"应该不是单指女性,可以是复数的表达,而且应该表达中途变卦的意味。7,“像缝纫机似的”的翻译,在英文中置于句尾不很适合,容易产生歧义,在倒回中文时意思变化较远。8 ,最后一句的表达没有中文想说的“无事到来”的进程感,只表达了无事发生。而且,似乎happening也应该是happened才符合英语在这种句子中的习惯表达。【以上拙见只是个人感觉,仅供参考。】
