Amelia Bedelia went to a restaurant with her parents. She made a lot of stupid mistakes there. There were many guests in the restaurant so the host told her he was shorthanded which means he need more help. But Amelia Bedelia looked at his hand and thought if they were short.She wanted to be a waitress so that she could help him and earned the money to buy the bike. The host asked her whether she cut the mustard, which means whether she meet the requirement. She told him she had never cut any mustard but she would like to learn. The host was very kind and agreed to hire her. Another waitress told her she was going to show her the ropes, which means showing her how to be a waitress. But she thought which kind ropes would be shown to herself. Then a customer went into the restaurant and ordered a cherry pie. He was in a hurry, so he told her step on it, which means hurry up. But she gave him a cherry pie and then stomp on it.
