< five little men in a flying saucer > is illustrated by Dan Crisp. This is a classic book with holes. And there is a song about the story. When I first heard the song, I thought it was a young kids’counting book. But when I read the pictures, I realized that it was a story about environmental protection. Encouraged the young readers to be green in everything they do.
This morning, Simon said he wanted to read <five little men in a flying saucer>, and he started to hum the tune. ( actually, I had read it for him for several times before. But he still liked the story.) Simon and I talked about what the little men saw in the picture. I encouraged little Simon to say what we did would harm the environment. And what we should do is for protecting the environment/ the earth. By the end of the story, the world becomes a better place to visit and the five little men decided to stay and even have had something to do with it. They are sweeping and mopping the floor. Then simon and I talked about what we should do to make our home tidy and clean. I told him if our home was clean, the five little men might come to visit us. Simon shouted out to the sky, “ five little men come here!” What a lovely kid!
We sang the song on our way to kindergarten together.
