The first time I got to know about "cheese" was from a documentary. It was about how cheeses were made in Europe. I wondered as I was watching: hmm, cheese making looks magical, when can I grab a bite of them?
I grow up with no cheese, just like most Chinese. We do drink milk -- milk has become more and more important in our daily lives as I grew up, but looks like cheese hasn't been able to get into our culture, except fast food stores. Even in the stores, cheeses are minimal.
After I came to the US, I realized what real cheeses were. They tasted sooooo RICH! Very different from what I imagined.
Overtime, I got used to their flavors, although I still can't call out most cheese names. I think that's some progress :)
