Vitamins are organic compounds that people need in small quantities. Most vitamins need to come from food because the body either does not produce them or produces very little.
Classification of vitamins is based on solubility. The two types are fat-soluble and water-soluble.
Vitamin A, Vitamin D, E and K are all fat-soluble vitamins and are best consumed with a good source of healthy fats to aid absorption. The water-soluble vitamins include Vitamin C, and the Vitamin B-Complex, all of which are needed for cell metabolism and a range of internal processes. A deficiency in any of these vitamins can lead to serious health issues.
