Now I‘m going to try to share this book in English, through these keywords I wrote down.

1.Ancestors,Astronomer

So they put this treatise which was a leather bound copy on the coffee table prominently in her living room.I think this hello not only precious by the family but also a purchase one for all Chinese people for its historical meaning.

All of her Grandparents were born in 福建。They boarded the boat for the Philippines where they were set to be more opportunity.Her grandpa was a kind mild mannered school teacher but became a rise merchant to support his family he was not religious and not particularly good at business.Her grandma was a Buddhist.Despite the antimaterealistic Teaching of the bodhisattva she always wished her husband were more successful.

Born in China her mother arrived in the Philippines with her family when she was two and during that time Japanese occupying Philippines and she lost her infant brother and she described how Japanese soldier killed her uncle.From this part I knew that Japanese not also invasion China but also Philippines.They cruelly and bloodily killed normal people.The description is that the Japanese soldiers holding her uncle stores open forcing water down his throat and laughing about how he was going to burst like Overfilled balloon.

From this part I knew that from her mother’s generation they are all well educated and graduated from universities with chemistry or technology degrees.

There’s two words is talking about her father who Disobey every plan their family had for him,For he think family plastic business was crabby and family members were backstabbing each other that made him want to escape from his family’s business and wanted to Immigrate to America.and as he wished American Massachusetts Institute of technology excepted his application and from there he met her mother and proposed in 1960And in the same year they arrived in Boston with only their student scholarships to leave on.For the first two winters they could not afford the heat And warm blankets around to keep warm.His father got his PhD in less than two years and became an assistant professor at Purdue University.

7.Mortifyingly ,thermoses  ,bologna sandwich ,wreck ,uttered,Drilled disgrace

She  was Mortifying Because every time they brought Chinese food in ThermosEs To school while other students were eating bologna sandwich.Your father was very strict on them they were command to speak English outside and only Chinese at home if anyone carelessly uttered English words  Accidentally he would be wracked by Chopstix.They drilled in maths and piano.And they were never allowed to sleep overnight at their friends houses. Their report cards should be perfect and one time she won the second place in a history contest and brought her family to the award ceremony.Somebody else had won the first prize around students afterwords her father said to her never ever disgrace me like that again.

Maybe in her father’s mind she should be all the best all the time!

8.Peculiar, tacos buffets

Although all the people who heard of their story will think about her parents was so strict to her or even imagine that she had a horrible childhood but for her she said that she found strength and confidence in her peculiar family she remembered her father working until three in the morning every night so drivingHe wouldn’t even notice them entering the room but she also remembered how excited his father was introducing them off delicious food for eight grandpa tacos floppy Joe’s diary queen and all you can eat buffets and take them to sledding skating crabbing and camping there’s also a lot of good memories.

He’s father was a typical Chinese patriarch，And he was teaching at university of Berkeley and he also wanted his daughter study in the same school as she has already passed the entrance examination but  herself disobeyed him as he disobeyed his family .She thought that if she went to the Berkeley University There is no campus touring underand no agonizingshe forged his father signature and Applied another university on the east coast of America that is Harvard university. She finally  received Received the offer from Harvard she told his father the truth. His father was angry at the moment but later in the evening he changed to Proud.And later her second and a third sister all became a Harvard university student.

12.less of a burden than a privilege

She also said that American changes people.When she was 4 his father told her that she could not married to a non-Chinese people unless he was dead but in fact she married to Fed who was a Jewish and became his father’s best friend.Only a little part of herself was pity about she did not marry to a Chinese that would left  5 thousand years civilization behind but compared to the privilege of freedom and creativity of American the burden it less.
