Personally speaking, I did not have this idea at all when I first joined in 2013.
就我个人而言，我2013年刚加入时，完全没有这个想法。
I merely wanted to improve my public speaking skills and overcome the fear when facing too many audience.
我只是想提高我的公众演讲能力，克服面对很多观众的恐惧。
How I Got to Know about Toastmasters 我和头马的缘分起源
I had a classmate and roommate in grade one in university whose name is Cheryl.
我在大一的时候，有一个同学兼室友Cheryl。
Cheryl’s elder sister Angela Zhang was district director in Toastmaster then and she strongly recommended Cheryl to join Toastmasters.
Cheryl的姐姐Angela 当时是头马的大区总监，Angela 强烈推荐Cheryl 加入头马。
Cheryl told me about this organisation and joining this organisation could help practising oral English and improving
public speaking skills.
Cheryl 和我说了这个组织，加入这个组织，可以锻炼英语口语，提高公众演讲能力。
I was interested in this organisation and I accepted the invitation of Cheryl that we went to visit one club together to see how Toastmasters meeting ran.
我对这个组织很感兴趣，我接受了Cheryl的邀请，我们一起去参加一个俱乐部的会议，看看头马会议是怎样进行的。
Cheryl’s sister Angela advised her to visit a few clubs and chose the one she liked most and the atmosphere was good.
Cheryl 的姐姐Angela建议她多去几个俱乐部拜访，选择一个她最喜欢，而且氛围好的俱乐部。
Thus Cheryl and I visited a few clubs and we wanted to join GEM in the end.
因此Cheryl 和我拜访了好几家俱乐部，最后我们都想要加入GEM。
Haha, the clubs we visited then are still outstanding till now.
哈哈，当时我们拜访的几个俱乐部，现在依然很优秀。
The Baby Girl Status
I still clearly remember the 1st first time, I was encouraged to do a table topic speech in GEM as a guest, I kept silent for about 30 seconds on the stage and my voice was trembling when I spoke.
我依然清晰地记得,当我作为GEM的宾客，第一次被鼓励上台做即兴演讲时的情景，我在台上保持沉默大概有30秒，当我讲话时，我的声音是颤抖的。
I was like most Chinese students who did well in written English and were good at English examinations while it’s difficult to express myself.
我和大多数的中国学生一样，书面英语很好，英语考试也很擅长，然而很难表达自己。
Before I met members in GEM, I felt proud of my English because I always got the top 3 of all the English examinations in my class and many times even the whole grade from primary school to university and top 1 was quite easy for me then.
在我认识GEM的会员之前，我对我的英语感到很骄傲，因为从小学到大学，我的英语考试成绩总能排在班级前三名，很多时候还是全年级的前三名，那时第一名对我来说，很简单。
The most proud thing I did in senior high school, I helped my classmates to fix their article’s grammar mistakes and after I adjusted the sentence, there was no grammar mistake ，they will get a higher score. Therefore many classmates often ask me to help them.
我在高中的时候，最自豪的事情是，我帮我的同学修改他们写的文章的语法错误，当我完成调整之后，就没有语法错误了，我的同学的作文也得到了更高的分数。 因此很多同学会经常找我帮忙。
However, when I attended meetings in GEM Toastmasters Club, I found how tiny I was，how poor oral English I was！
然而，当我参加了GEM 头马俱乐部的会议，我发现我是多么的渺小，我的英语口语是多么的差劲！
WIthout surprise, I made up my mind to join GEM and improve my public speaking skills.
没有意外地，我决定加入GEM，提高我的公众演讲能力。
I began to to try different roles in meetings and begin my CC journey in GEM slowly in 2013 to overcome my fear on the stage.
2013年，我开始尝试会议的不同角色，在GEM 开启了我的CC的旅程,克服我在台上的恐惧。
Took SAA Because I Had So Much Time as an University Student 因大学生时间充裕，就做了SAA
One day, GEM’s officer Judy came to me and ask if I could help to be SAA.
有一天，GEM的一个官员Judy询问我，是否可以帮忙做SAA。
Judy told me she found that every time I could arrive the venve early and helped setting up the venue.
Judy 和我说，她发现我每次都很早到，帮忙布置会场。
Judy told me actually this was one of the responsibilities of SAA (sergeant at Arms) and the other responsibilities are welcoming guest， introduced Toastmasters to guests， manage the club assets(we have a bag to get all the things inside for our regular meeting).
Judy 告诉我，实际上这是事务官的其中一项职责，其他的职责是欢迎宾客，向宾客介绍头马，管理俱乐部的物资（我们有一个装了日常会议需要用的东西在里面的包）。
It sounded nice and easy to take SAA.
做SAA听起来挺不错的，而且挺容易。
I told Judy that I needed to think over taking SAA because I thought I was not good enough to do the job.
我和Judy说我需要认真考虑一下做事务官，因为我觉得我自己不够好，还不能胜任这份工作。
A week later, Judy sent a WeChat message to enquire about my answer.
一周之后，Judy发了条微信信息，问我考虑得怎么样了。
I replied her that I wanted to try SAA. I had much more time than the other members in club because I did not need to work.
我回复她，我愿意尝试事务官。我比俱乐部的其他会员拥有更多的时间，因为我不需要工作。
To my surprise, there was only one candidate（me) on SAA when the officer election was on so I became SAA quite smoothly.
让我惊讶的是，在官员选举的时候，事务官只有一个竞选人(我），因此我很顺利地就当选了。
When I became SAA, I still arrived venue early to help setting up the venue, welcome guest and tidy up all the things together with officer team when the meeting ended.
但我当选了事务官之后，我还是很早到达会场，帮忙布置会场，欢迎宾客，会议结束之后，和官员团队一起整理所有东西。
I joined officer team monthly meeting, eat together and have meeting at a restaurant, listened to their discussion about the DCP.
我会参加官员团队每个月的会议，一起在一家餐厅聚餐，开会，听他们关于DCP的讨论。
I had no idea about what is DCP then and I just cared about what I should follow up next month and then I will continue to eat my food.
那时我不知道DCP是什么东西，我只关心我接下来一个月要跟进什么, 然后我就继续吃东西啦。
When my SAA term ended, I still did not know what was DCP at all.
当我事务官的任期结束，我还是完全不知道DCP是什么东西。
I just knew president, vice presidents would take care of that and I just did the things they told me to do.
我只知道主席，副主席们会看着DCP，我就做他们让我做的事情就可以了。
What I gained from SAA was I got more familar with members in the club, especially the officer team members and they alway took good care of me maybe that was because I was the youngest in the team.
我做事务官的收获是，我和俱乐部的会员变成熟悉了起来，特别是官员团队的会员们，他们总是把我照顾得很好，可能是因为我是团队里面最年轻的吧。
There was an expressive idea president Judy promoted then and she encouraged each member to do so.
主席Judy当时提出了一个让我印象深刻的想法，而且她也一起鼓励每个会员去做。
The idea is everyone could be SAA and we help each other every meeting.
这个想法是全民事务官，每次会议我们都互相帮忙。
I felt quite happy and easy to be SAA because I was not alone, the entire officer team was with me and they did help me after the meeting was over each time.
我觉得做SAA，很开心也很轻松，因为我不是孤军奋战，整个官员团队是和我一起的, 而且他们的确每次会议结束都会一起帮我。
There was one member who helped me a lot, she was not an officer, I have ever helped her to organized the Xmas party of our club. She was Mia.
有一个不是官员的会员帮了我很多，我曾经帮她一起组织过俱乐部的圣诞节。她叫Mia。
I told her that I wanted find an Intern job once, she has sent me many Intern jobs recruitment information and gave me advice since then.
我曾经告诉她，我想要找一份实习，自从那时起，她给我发了很多实习工作的招聘信息，也给了我很多建议。
And also Phoebe Chen and Vincent Fang have also helped me to find the job, they kept an eye on the opportunities and get back to me several times.
Phoebe和Vincent也帮我找过工作几次，他们帮我留意机会，然后和我说。
These are all the unexpected gifts I recived from GEM members.
这些都是我从GEM会员收到的超出预料的礼物。
