Organised Effort
By now it has been over a year since I got into the university, I saw different people studying in different ways.
Some of them never miss one class, no matter it is the lecture or tutorial.
Some of them, interestingly, never attend one class if not necessary.
Obviously, most of us are between these two typical types.
However, at the end of the semester last year, it appears that
their final score is not proportional to how much lecture they have attended.
If not the time they spent on the class, what is the differences behind those Credit and D and HD?
By checking many book, the reason behind should be the organised effort.
An organised effort is the effort you put on the way approaching your goal.
It is the effort made outside the comfort zone. (You never really improve inside the comfort zone)
Concentration is a symbol of organised effort. Our mind and logic has a inertia, that is, we need some time to heat our mind for the incoming mission that we plan to do, this heating time can be 1min, it can also be ten mins, or even 1 hour.
That means during your working period, if you are disturbed by some other stuff, your phone, most commonly. It will take the same time you took to heat up your mind at the beginning. And that is the time wasted.
This kind of time can not be counted into the organised effort.
There are many application to help us to counter this kind of mind disturbing, for example, an app called forest.
And a famous theory call The pomodoro technique. If you are interested in a working method with high efficiency, you may want to look this up.
