WebSocket是一种在单个TCP连接上进行全双工通信的协议。WebSocket通信协议于2011年被IETF定为标准RFC 6455,并由RFC7936补充规范。WebSocket API也被W3C定为标准。
WebSocket使得客户端和服务器之间的数据交换变得更加简单,允许服务端主动向客户端推送数据。在WebSocket API中,浏览器和服务器只需要完成一次握手,两者之间就直接可以创建持久性的连接,并进行双向数据传输。
- 协议中,为我们实现即时服务带来了两大好处:
- Header
互相沟通的Header是很小的-大概只有 2 Bytes - Server Push
服务器的推送,服务器不再被动的接收到浏览器的请求之后才返回数据,而是在有新数据时就主动推送给浏览器。
WebSockets允许用户和服务器之间的流连接,并允许即时信息交换。在聊天应用程序的示例中,通过套接字汇集消息,可以实时与一个或多个用户交换,具体取决于谁在服务器上“监听”(连接)。
WebSockets不仅限于聊天/消息传递应用程序。它们适用于需要实时更新和即时信息交换的任何应用程序。一些示例包括但不限于:现场体育更新,股票行情,多人游戏,聊天应用,社交媒体等等。
