Always reaffirm your purpose in life to yourself. The ultimate goal is not happiness, not health, but holiness. Today we have so many distractions to obsess over. The just, the good and the noble have their own value, but God would have them cower. For the most important thing is whether a man will accept the God sanctifying him. One must establish a close and correct relationship with God at all costs.

Do I really believe in holiness? Can I really believe that God can enter me and sanctify me? If your sermons really make me believe that I am unclean, I shall have an aversion to what you say. I have a strong aversion to the Gospel because It exposes my impurity, but it also stirs up a strong desire. 英 One of God’s ultimate orders to mankind is that we should be holy. His sole purpose was to make saints. God is not a machine granting blessing forever; nor did he come out of pity. He has come to save, for he has created a holy man. Salvation means that through the death of Jesus Christ, God unites me with him again, without any barrier.

Do not allow anything out of compassion for yourself or others that is incompatible with the holy God. To be holy means not to be defiled—not to be defiled with the tongue, not to be defiled with the mind, because every detail of life is under the scrutiny of God. Holiness is not only what God has given me, but how do I show what God has given me.

Dear God, almighty God, you are holy; your wonders are beyond praise; you permit that you make me holiness with your grace.
