Hello my dear fellow toastmasters and distinguished guests, I am your new classmate, my name is Caroline. I come from a small city in Jilin province. I graduated from Dalian University of Technology, my major is Network Engineering. I’m now working in Dalian IBM as a software tester.
I grew up in the suburb of the city. There are 4 members in our family, my father, my mother, my elder sister and I. My sister and I looked quite alike in the childhood, she once said to me: "Maybe actually we are twins, and you just 'come out' 4 years later."
My sister and I studied in the same primary school, same high school, and even the same university. She is good at physics and I'm good at writing, I am a mild writer.
First, I am a mild person. I’m not good at arguing at all and I don’t like it. I’m used to understanding from other's perspective and caring about other’s feelings. It's hard to recall any quarrel I’ve made with others. Mildness is sometimes good and sometimes not good, however I don’t want to change this character, I’ve already adapted to it. :)
Second, I like reading and writing since I was a little girl. When I read books, I like to write down the graceful part on my notebook and whenever I meet some new words, I will look them up in the dictionary then write down the meaning on my notebook as well. I am fond of writing diaries, not daily but continuously. – Before I went to university I had completed the writing of 6 books of diaries and 4 books of reading notes.
I was the Chinese representative when I was in high school and I published my first prose at the age of 16, earned my first bucket of gold.
Although I learnt professional engineering courses in the university and now working in software industry, I didn’t give up writing. From university time till now, I continuously wrote blogs on the internet and still wrote diaries. The handwritten style is always my favorite style of writing, as it can lead me into the inner peace.
During writing, I think I am with my “flow” (here the “flow” means “心流”). I am fully absorbed in and enjoying, forgetting the time.
3 months ago, I opened a public account on Wechat, from where I can share my words with my friends in a much easier way. By now, I've published 45 pieces of articles on this public account, 80% of them are pure original, and the other 20% are some really touching articles that I’ve read and want to share with my friends.
I have set a small goal, it's not making 100,000,000 dollars, just having the access to open "Original protection" function on my public account - that means I will have copyright of my articles, others cannot copy them without authorization. Now I’m glad to tell you that I already reached the goal on the last day of August! I feel so excited when I got the invitation message from Wechat. Together with the "Original protection" function, the "Comments" and "Reward" function are opened as well, they are both very helpful to the communication between my readers and I. This is just a first small milestone for me, there's still a long way to go. However the feeling is not like "persistence", just because I like it, it becomes an enjoyable journey.
I am a mild writer - a mild person who likes writing. Glad to know you all and eager to hear your stories.
