今天谈个小词，while以及when

We use when (not as, not while)

1.to talk about an event that takes place at same time as some longer actions or event (described in the main clause)

eg. Dave was eating when the door bell rang.(但是将连接词放在吃饭这个较长的动作就可以用as while和when了)

2.to talk about one event happening immediately after another

eg. When the light went out, I lit some candles.

3.to talk about periods of our livesor periods of time past

或者当我们讨论两个短暂动作(事情)同时进行，或我们想强调一件事紧接另一件(有连锁/因果关系等)同时，用as ,when(不用while)

eg. As/when the can is opened, the contents heat automatically.

  We prefer while /as
to talk about 2 longer actions that go on at the same time.(如本文本句)

但是as有"因为"之意，我们有时候会避开

eg. While you were playing golf, I went to the cinema.

mossy长满苔藓的(moss-苔藓，长在地上绿色的那种，和lichen地衣不一样，lichen还可以指树上绿色的那种真菌类，不过苔藓，地衣，瓦松好像都是药材)

it was up to him.表示这事得全靠他了。口语中也常出现it is up to you.

salute n. v. 致意，敬(军)礼

pull (oneself) together:To regain one's composure.

And then something made Peter say,

“That was partly my fault, Aslan. I was angry with him and I think that helped him to go wrong.”

Peter觉得自己要说点什么

It's partly my fault个人觉得应该说成"某种程度上是我的错"会比"部分是我的错"更顺一点

helped him to go wrong 促使 helped可以用made /got/urged替换

And Aslan said nothing either to excuse Peter or to blame him but merely stood looking at him with his great unchanging eyes.

这里前面有say nothing 后面是说的内容所以either...or(not either=neither)

哈哈，不能想象狮子是怎么拍厚厚的爪子的。所以露西偷偷想，如果不是爪子柔中带刚，一定很可怕。

velvet 一般做n.天鹅绒，查了两个词典也没见动词用法，这里应该是作者名词动用了，包括下面一句

spur是马刺的意思，马刺队就是SPURS(马刺是马靴后跟带的小刺，现在多为金属轮，刺激马跑得快。有兴趣可以自行搜索)

All the hair on its back stood up on end.这句话的各种变形其实在部分文学作品出现过，表示后背的毛根根竖起。

第一次作战，的确是硬着头皮也要上。

make no difference 没影响，都一样。

这一章基本就是这样了，Peter终于成功打败了敌人，被授"Sir Peter Wolf’s-Bane"(狼之克星)称号，并被伟大的阿斯兰教育要爱护你的剑。还挺好玩的。
