I limited myself to twomodest ambitions: to do physical exercises every morning and to read more of an evening. An all-night party onNew Year's Eve provided me with a good excuse for not carrying out either ofthese new resolutions on the first day of theyear, but on the second, I applied myself assiduously to the task. The dailyexercises lasted only 11 minutesand I proposed to do them early in the morningbefore anyone had got up. The self-discipline required to drag myselfout of bed 11 minutesearlier than usual wasconsiderable. Nevertheless, I managed to creep down into the living room for two days beforeanyone found me out.After jumping about on the carpetand twisting the human frameinto uncomfortable positions, I sat down at the breakfasttable in an exhausted condition. 今天练习了元音音标[ɜ]：嘴巴微微张开，嘴唇微微噘起，下巴微微下沉，把舌头在口腔内向上卷起来，发音；

4. 练习感悟
1) . [ɜ] 这个音标整体出现频率较低，出现有一些规律，从今天的文章来看主要是 ir, ear 这几个字母连一起的时候i和ea都要读成[ɜ]，我想应该是要和后面的r连成卷舌音吧。
2) . 今天的翻译，把“on the second”翻译成了“马上”，和译文南辕北辙。思考发现，一是在这里是on the second day的省略句；二是在这里之所以翻译错误，还是没注意前面有个on the first day，这里的on the second应该是要呼应前面的on the first day。
