Last week in the circle reading, I had the opportunity to in a group with Rebecca, and I found she has a great talent for writing, what she wrote about the plane experience attract me to read until the end. And from her works I found made me think about the technique outside description, which is not describing things with “horrible”, building up the atmosphere of “horrible”. And also, it reminds me that the book I read City of glass, and the sensual memory technique the author used made audience in the environment he wrote. The paragraph he wrote is that, “In the fifth grade, I 'd take the buses down to Chinatown on rainy Saturdays, by myself mostly, and absorb the neighbourhood’s signature aroma of ginseng, mothballs, and dried fish, as well as its (to a fifth grader) exotic tableaux of pigs’ heads, bamboo kick-knacks and unbelievably inexpensive paper products. The noise! The colour! And yeah, all the clichés! But what fascinating clichés.” In this paragraph, he described the scene with five sense, so that it makes people feel what he wanted to express. In the future, when I write I will use this technique.
