Part1:Introduction
Hello, everyone. My topic today is about analysis of the reason why teenagers are addicted to online games.
Part2:Body
Some researchers have proposed a hypothesis called immersion theory as an explanation for this phenomenon.According to immersion theory, when people are engaged in certain daily activities, they focus their attention and filter out all irrelevant perceptions, getting into a state of immersion. The main factors connected with immersion are challenge and skill. As a result of the balance of these two factors, people will have an optimal experience and then enter immersion state. This theory has been confirmed in online game behavior, however, the immersion state of online game addicts is not significantly higher than that of non-addicts.Therefore,this theory can not well explain why teenagers are addicted to online games.
Other researchers have tried to analyze the reasons from the perspective of psychological requirement. After exploring, they ratained three main factors. The first one is the retreat and compensation of real emotion.People play games to vent their terrible emotions in reality and relieve the pressure. The second is the need for interpersonal communication and group affiliation. They communicate with others through online games and feel the warmth of the team. The third is the psychological need of achievement experience. They experience a sense of accomplishment in winning a game or achieve something which is difficult in reality.Through investigation and analysis, these three factors are proved to be ralated to addiction to online games.Further investigation showed that the time of playing games per week was correlated with the intensity of psychological demands.
Part3:conclusion
After further discussion and analysis,it is found that the satisfaction of various psychological needs in online games reflects the lack of such requirements in real life.It is put forward that meeting the psychological needs of teenagers in this respect will become an effective way to reduce their dependence on online games. It should also be concerned that how to guide the yonth to establish a positive way to deal with terrible emotions.
That's all for my presentation.Thans for your listening.
