1、didn't hear the alarm
I overslept this morning because I didn't hear my alarm. 没听到闹钟
I slept right through the alarm. (sleep through the alarm) 没被闹钟叫醒
The alarm didn't go off . 闹钟根本就没响。
If the alarm didn''t go off ,you probably won't get up until you naturally wake up.
2、deciding what to wear.
I wanted to be on time ,but I spent too much time deciding what to wear.
you underestimate the time needed. 因为你 低估了所需的时间
You may think you only need 20 minutes to finish a task,but actually it can take up to 40 minutes.
up to 40 minutes 多达40分钟。
3、left somrthing
I left my phone at home and had to go back.
I forgot my laptop at home and had to go back. laptop 笔记本电脑
4、搞错方向
I went the wrong way.
I took the wrong bus.
I went to the wrong place.
Actually people can easily get lost when they go to a new palce.
So,you have a bad sense of direction. 方向感很差
【Part 2 :what to do when you are late 】
As the saying goes ,better late than never. 俗话说,亡羊补牢
Tip1:告知并道歉，最好再说明原因
1、I'm sorry,but I am running late. 我快迟到了
2、I'm afraid that I'm going to be late for work/the meeting/the interview.
个人原因：
I overslept.
I went the wrong way.
I left my phone at home and had to go back.
客观原因：
There was a traffic jam. 交通拥挤
My flight was delayed.
The subway broke down.损坏
Tip2:告知对方你什么时候到
1、I'll be there in 5 minutes.
2、It's hard to say ,but I'll be there as soon as possible.
Tip3:弥补错误----工作迟到
1、Sorry , I was late . This won't happen again . I'll finish my work on time.
2、I'm terribly sorry. I won't be late again . I'll be working late tonight.
弥补错误-----面试迟到
I'm sorry ,but I'm normally on time. 对不起，我平时都是准时的
弥补错误----开会迟到
1、Try to make the most of your time .
2、Review the meeting minutes.
弥补错误----朋友约会迟到
1、Dinner's on me 晚饭我请了
2、I will buy you lunch.午饭我请了
3、I'll treat you to a movie. 我请你看电影。
【Part 3 :how to avoid being late】
Tip1: Put your alarm on the other side of room.
Tip2: Set multiple alarms. 多设几个闹钟
You are your own worst enemy. 你最大的敌人就是你自己。
