Today I went to my neighbor—— Anna’s reading class to read a picture book for ten 3-year-old kids. Ten little kids, my goodness! What a special experience! To be honest, I was very nervous when I first made up my mind to do it. But being nervous cannot help, it is best to prepare in advance.
I choosed《ten in the bed》for them, because this picture book is very entertaining while teaching young children the principle of counting backwards. We can read and sing together, so that the young kids would enjoy the story happily.
About the story

There were one in the bed and the little one said, “Roll over roll over Good night!”
Step 1, Greeting + warm up
Say hi to everybody. Then play music ——< 7 steps >, I thought it would make them understand the principle of counting first. then let the kids move around. ( now I know I shouldn’t let them move around, because they are easy to get out of control. Thanks for Anna’s help!)
Step 2. Reading the book
I set ten toy animals on a table, then I started reading the story. I asked them to read after me. For instance, I said, “ roll over.” While I was rolling the toys over, Until one toy animal fell out of the table. The kids laughed and laughed, I picked it up, and give it to a kid , asked them to take care of it. Since then, the rest of kids wanted to get a toy animal as well. Then I invited them to count the toys and rolled the toys over one by one. Thank goodness! In this session, they interacted with me very well. At the end of the story, I ask them to get the toys back to the table.
Step 3. Sing a song —— ten in the bed.
The kids really enjoy the song. I tried to teach them to count with fingers while we were listening to the music. But they are too young to bend their fingers flexibly.
At the end, I could hear some of them singing “ roll over, roll over.”
