This book is amazing.
Rather than some emotional stir in other science fictions, this book is extremely rational. When faced with dilemma, Mark Watney didn’t choose to surrender to his fate; instead, he fought back with the knowledge of botany. From his log, it is no doubt that he has a great desire for survival, which pushes him so hard to survive with every possibilities. In addition, the language is great: causal and funny. You can never imagine a person suffering from the loneliness and despair can write in that tone: “My asshole is doing as much to keep me alive as my brain.” “Then I sacrificed 20 liters of precious water to the dirt god.” Mark Watney must have a strong mind so that he can laugh even in the plight.
