But the peace ended on Dec 15.The city ordered an eviction and the planning officials discovered that it's cottages were onto permitted as full-time residences. A site visit discovered building code violations. And former Walden tenants are suing the village 's owner for violating their leases.
In 2018, O'Brien faced a similar struggle, whom humble abode's single lacked the occupany permit that is required for full-time residents.
In August 2019, the HFZBA forced O' Brien to move out. In 2020, the state legislators introduced an bill which would have required local governments to allow tiny houses on residential plots.
For residents of the "Live Free or Die " state, tiny houses offer an attractive option. But for local zoning boards, that economizing does not sit well. And for too many tiny-house residents, the pursuit of quality housing means they end up with no housing.
