Wonder
Among all the wayEnglish books I’ve ever read, Wonder is definitely the easiest one. The plain language and concise chapters make it super relaxing to read and it took me only a short period of time to go over the part from August perspective.
“I know I’m not an ordinary ten-year-old kid. I mean, sure I do ordinary things. But I know ordinary kids don’t get stared wherever they go.”
While the majority of us are trying so hard to pursue material success, fame, good appearance, August only prays for a normal life with an ordinary face. Due to his strange face, he had to undergo a large number of surgeries, lead a totally different life from other kids, and get repelled at school due to his appearance . I can’t imagine how a person will be hurt due to countless gossips and imperfect looking, not to mention that August is just a kid.
But fortunately he didn’t get distressed and still maintained an optimistic view of his life. Thanks to his supporting and loving family, he kept trying to incorporate in his surroundings and never gave up. Whenever I see how tough and challenging for him to get over the hardships and recover from frustration, I can always get inspired. Compared to me, August has suffered much more sadness and pressure. But he still marched towards with great courage. So there is no reason for me to keep frustrated simply because of a bad mark without going ahead.
