Early in the morning，some students from the village Xiadi gather in front of the Ancestral Hall for the traditional music performance to worship their ancestors.
It is the elder who organizes such an activity once a year. In this way, the activity acts as a bridge between the elder and the young generation in the village.
Another actvity is to go to the temple to light up the lanterns for the family. In Chaoshan area, lantern carries the best wishes for the future generations.
Usually people would go with their family and take the light with hope back home.
By talking with the elder in the village, some students from Shantou University were collecting the stories about their ancestors which were shared online later and have touched many young people who grew up in the village but knew little about its history.
