Ma Xiaoqiu:The Principle of Da Xue
一天，有人问我：＂大学之道，在明明德，在亲民，在止于至善＂这段话是什么意思？
One day,someone asked me:what is the meaning of the following paragraph?“The principle of the Great Virtue is to promote the bright virtue of people;influencing the people;It lies in the perfection to the highest virtue.”
其实，这段话是儒家代表作《大学》这遍文章的开篇。这里的＂大学＂，指的是＂大人之学＂。什么是大人呢？
In fact,the passage at the beginning of the article of the Da Xue is a representative of the Confucianists.The"Da Xue"here refers to"The principle of the Great Virtue".What is the Great Virtue?
＂大人＂乃圣贤之人，是明了宇宙人生真理的人，是具备高等智慧和心灵品质的人，是心灵、智慧、人格成熟到至高境界的人，是无私奉献、拥有天下格局的人。
The"Great Virtue"is a sage,a person who understands the truth of the universe and the life.He is a person with advanced wisdom and spiritual qualities.He is the person whose mind,wisdom,and personality have matured to the highest level.He is a selfless dedication and a person has the pattern of the world.
＂明德＂，乃日月之合而明也。明什么？明日月之德，明天地之道，明宇宙、天地、自然的运转法则。天地宇宙在运转过程中所呈现的特征、特性也就是日月的特征和特性。
The"bright virtue"is the combination of the sun and the moon.What is to understand?Understand the virtue of the sun and the moon,understand the truth of the heaven and the earth.Understand the law of operation of the universe,the heaven,the earth and the nature.The features and characteristics of the universe in its operation are also the features and characteristics of the sun and the moon.
进而＂明明德＂就是心灵、智慧、人格、德能成熟到圣人、贤士的境界，也就是＂内圣＂的境界。这时才能真正做到＂亲民＂，亲民是向外付出、善行、全身心地服务大众。效法日月之德，天地之道，用实际行动，无休无止地信受奉行，如此善行直至成就一个高度文明的大同世界！从而也成就了大人的＂内圣外王＂的品质地位。
In turn,the"bright virtue"means the mind,wisdom,personality,and the virtue can mature into the realm of the saints and the worthy,that is,the realm of"internal Saints."Only at this time can we truly achieve"Influencing the people,closing to the people",that is to pay outward,be kind,and serve the public wholeheartedly.Follow the rules of the sun and the moon,the way of the heaven and the earth,and practice it with endless faith.Such a good deed will lead to a highly civilized world!As a result,they have also achieved the quality status of the Great Virtue"Inside the saint outside the king."
