My First Lesson in Webi (May 21, 2016)

I felt wonderful after taking the first lesson in Webi. The teacher, called Jammy, was a typical Asian, maybe from Hongkong. When he came into the classroom, I was surprised. So, at the beginning of the lesson, I directly asked him where he was from. But to my disappointment, he didn't tell me. I was a bit embarrassed by his refusal. Maybe I was rude to ask him private information.

Jammy spoke English very fluently and idiomatically, just as many Chinese Americans did. He first checked what I have learned from the courseware and then answered my two questions.

I was impressed by his frankness. He was not sure about the first question. However, he didn't beat around the bush. Instead, he told me directly he had no idea. I really admire his courage. It's not  easy for every teacher to admit. He didn't give up and continued to discuss this question with me. In this sense, I think he is a good and responsible teacher. It is because of his frankness that I decide to take his lessons again.

60 minutes passed quickly. I enjoyed this lesson, so I felt how time flies. At the end, he asked me some questions based on what I have learned in Unit 1. There is no definite answer. It needs your understanding and good mastery of the language. Obviously, the Private Lesson is designed to check students' ability to use what they have learned.

I like this way. It provides me a good chance to have a face-to-face communication with foreign teachers. My top priority of learning English at present is to improve my speaking. I should take advantage of this opportunity to practice, practice and practice.

I'd like to end this passage by using some lyrics from WHEN YOU BELIEVE by Mariah Carey: THERE CAN BE A MIRACLE WHEN YOU BELIEVE.  THOUGH HOPE IS FRAIL, IT'S HARD TO KILL.
